Beautiful hotel/beach!!!!! What a wonderful experience to be on the island. Restaurants with beautiful views. Not too crowded, but it's very pricey....
Needs upgrades, updates, and repairs. Hopefully since the Hilton bought it things will improve. If I go back to San Diego I will choose an Air bnb instead.

Tuesday was the last day I'll take guests to the Hotel Del again ... $36 for two mediocre mojitos that we had to have at the bar (with a bartender who was clearly not pleased to be on her shift). The outside sofas are reserved for groups of two or more, regardless of the fact they were all empty at 2pm on a Tuesday. Stupid rules and stupidly overpriced drinks ... no thanks.
It is a gorgeous hotel. It is super expensive to buy anything or eat anything but what the hell, you're on vacation. Great beach too...
We were looking forward to spend the weekend here to celebrate our son's 3rd birthday. We got 4 rooms for our family and friends so they can celebrate with us. All of us agree that our experience was below our expectations, unfortunately. 1. Would I recommend it to other people? Yes. This is an iconic hotel so, yes, you should stay here at least once. Can't believe the drop in customer service since Hilton took over management. It's clearly not the same mission. There is no incentive to become a member anymore. Treated like cattle, filthy bathroom and no standards of customer service. Each interaction with staff was received as an imposition on them. Housekeeping staff left dirty dishes from previous guests outside our room for 3 days. The dishes are still there even after I notified the staff.
