A shore bird watching a photographer's paradise, particularly in the winter. Roseate spoonbills, great blue herons great white herons, reddish herons, black skimmers, and many others abound. The boardwalk provides great close-up viewing and photography in combination with the boardwalk from the convention center.
Always a great place to visit to get back to nature and a photographers dream
Visited the center today for the first time. Wonderful talk on hummingbirds of Texas. Walked the boardwalk and saw many bird species, turtles and alligators. What a magnificent resource here on the island!
Best birding I have ever known in one place. Look forward to the birds and the birders every year, trying to figure out the identities of the birds and the names of the birders who return year after year. When the tide is out shorebirds abound, and wandering the inland boardwalks seems to reveal new delights every day. Come on down!
SPIRITS Birding center is the reason I became a birder. It's a wonderful diversity of birds, staff and regular birders that return year after year. No 2 days are ever the same. The Alligators are always a favorite. Thanks to all who make this a tremendous experience! Charlotte
