It might just be me having been vegetarian for 30 years and not having had real soul food since I was a kid, but Souley just didn't do it for me. There was something overpowering about the greens, and the seitan chicken-fried "steak" had a nice texture, but not so much flavor (could have been lost among the greens). Don't put too much stock in my review, however, 'cause I'm thinking maybe I only liked soul food as a kid because it's carb heaven and, as a kid, I ate what I was given--and liked it. Celebrated our 40th Anniversary at this wonderful vegan restaurant. The yams are too die for! So glad we found this delicious vegan eating spot!
