Mutton disguised as lamb – Last year we tried Soma and we practically wept with joy over the lamb with risotto. Now with its new chef, it is like going to dinner at a your eccentric, organic aunt's house and eating clumsy "its good for you" food. Appetizers: pear with beets, prune gnocchis, letucces and yogurt salad. Pul-eese. Who pays to eat that stuff? My "lamb" tasted alot like mutton, just like the old country. THE BEST RESTAURANT ON THE NORTH SHORE – This place is unbelievable. The new chef has added a new demension to this restaurant that had a real hip scene, and great martinis, mojitos ect.... but was lacking from a culinary standpoint. NOT ANY MORE. Soma's food rivals any restaurant in Boston. hands down. I work in town, and have dined in almost every restaurant in Boston and Cambridge and believe this place in Beverly (two blocks from my home) will soon be considered a top restaurant in this city, Boston, New England!!!!!
Best Restaurant Ever!! – I absolutely love everything about this restaurant. The waitstaff is incredible, the Spinach and Arugula salad has got to be the best salad I have ever had! My boyfriend hates salad, and he can not get enough of it! The drinks are the best, my recommendation is the Lychee-Mango Martini. It can be pricey, but it's definitely worth it. Order the salads for Take-Out alllllllllllll the time. Desserts are the best as well. I will be a frequenter to Soma forever.
Not the best... – Though there is an extensive drink menu, they are not mixed with an expert hand. Very heavy on the trendy mixers, and low on the alcohol. My apetizers came cold in the middle and stuck to the plate as though it had been sitting for a while. Menu was trying to hard and trendy, falling a few years behind the times. Waitstaff was unpfofessional, and made it clear that they would rather gather behind the bar to chew gum and gossip than answer customers questions.
