sketchy experience – My experience at Solar was so negative that I am giving up about $70+ of prepaid tans rather than return. Management stated to me that Solar Salon has never refunded anyone's money under any terms, even money paid up front for services not rendered. I will not return because I experienced a bad burn in <5 minutes, over 2 minutes less than the Solar rep's recommendations. GREAT PLACE TO TAN – I have been tanning here for over 4 years, and their beds are the best anywhere. They have 6 beds and 3 stand ups. The beds are low pressure so you don't get that fake orange/red tan look. The staff is very knowledgeable and helpful. They show you how to use the beds, how to turn on/off fans and lights. The bed rooms are spacious so you don't feel cramped, and there is a cool frosted door when you hit the switch privacy is yours. The place overall is extremely clean. Solar Salon Uptown – What I enjoy most about being a client at Solar Salon, is the great tan I receive in 10 to 15 minutes. Their equipment is the best tanning equipment I have experienced. The employee's become familiar faces if your a regular customer and they are always pleasant and helpful! The salon seems to want you to know the smart way of how to use the service. elmo – I'll tell all of you this much. I have NEVER been to a tanning salon that provides more information than solar salon. They really know how to tan you and I never burned. The staff is absolutely unbelievable! They are the most amiable, professional, beautiful people I have encountered. My tan looks like I just stepped off a plane from a hot island. Solar Salon is the Rolls Royce of the tanning industry w. the cost equivalancy of a subaru!!
Fluevog78 – I am not an avid indoor tanner, however I find that customer service and a clean sanitary location is highly important. That is what I found at Solar Salon. I joined recently and found the staff to be friendly, both on the phone and in person. The place is very clean. The only thing I did not like is the sign up fee. I've never been to a place where you had to pay a membership fee to tan before.
Don't bother – I received an advertisement in the mail and called to ask for quotes because the website was down. Whomever answered the phone was very rude and kept stating I need to check out their website for the packages, even though I had already stated several times that the site was down. After the complaining and huffing and puffing subsided I was finally able to hear about three packages. If they were looking to find new cliental and then perhaps they should be more respectful and accommodating on the phone.
very nice – This is the best salon in the city. The only bad thing about it is that people know this so the wait is ridiculously long sometimes. The beds/booth are the only ones that don't burn me, I have a wonderfully even tan after just a few sessions. The staff is super friendly, and they actually know what they are talking about. Seriously the best tanning salon in NYC – I absolutly love to tan, both indoors and outdoors. I have also been to almost every tanning salon in Manhattan, yes I'm a tanaholic, and generally found them unsatisfying until I went to this one. I discovered solar salon when they opened down the block from my old apartment. They are the most luxurious, sanitary, and inviting tanning salon I've ever been to. The BEST...needs more locations – I've tried Portofino and seen other tanning salons...nothing competes with Solar Salon. The cost, quality of machines, pricing packages, down to the choice of lotions (the best around...which smell great) are all amazing. I only wish they had more locations, esp. one on the West Side, because it's a haul over to the East Side, but well worth it.
