Very Romantic...but not much else – The spot is incredibly romantic and the outdoor space is very unique to San Francisco. The food on the other hand is nothing special. I wouldn't say it was horrible, but for the price we paid we were very dissapointed. The appetizers and desserts we had were really nice but the entrees and pasta dishes were bland and somewhat boring. Stay away from the lamb (tough and hard to cut into). Great wine selection...making it a nice romantic date spot.
Wonderful date spot – Check out this great neighborhood joint! Perfect if you enough delicious simple dishes. Very romantic.
Great food and service! – I visitied on a recent Saturday nite and was blown away by the wonderful, innovative food being served (great Elk Steak!!) and the service was fantastic- perfectly casual and friendly, but very knowledgeable! Our waiter was there every time we needed something and the sommelier picked out the perfect wine from the varied list. I will be back many times!
Great Date Spot – Small, cozy, and tucked away, Sociale is the perfect date spot. Dining in front, on the patio, is delightful in nice weather. It's never too noisy, the service is always great, and the meals I've enjoyed there have all been exceptional. They have an especially good chicken dish and interesting wine selections. I went on a date there when they first opened and fell in love...the only thing I didn't like was my date, but I have been back many times minus him :)
Love the al fresca dining! – I hosted a surprise b-day dinner at sociale one evening and we all had a great time. They have a good wine list and our server was helpful and ensured the gaps weren't too long... we ate outside and the weather was perfect, it created a casual/relaxed yet sophisticated dining experience. Food was good, although i ate there 3 years ago and remembered it had a bit more flavour, but perhaps this time around our group was too large.
Lovely courtyard setting – I recently had dinner here on a Friday night. Overall, it is a great spot, and the setting (a hidden courtyard off Sacramento St) is fabulous. We had made a same-day reservation and were seated quickly. While our waiter was friendly and knowledgable, he had many other tables to attend to and the restaurant seemed short staffed. Great Little Patio – Perfect place for a hot date with your significant other. The service is very warm and professional. The food is up there with some of my favorite spots although not really as memorable as the environment and service.
Great food, but wine prices are high – Great tasting food and service, however, they could be more generous with the wine for the amount they charge per full/half glass. 1 glass can cost $10. The glasses are large which makes it difficult to know how much you're getting. All I know is that a "full" glass is less than half of the glass they poured into. Aesthetically, it would discourage me from ordering another glass because the volume looks low for the price.
delicious food & great ambiance!! – I thought Sociale was great! As soon as you walk through the patio/courtyard, you get the feeling that this is a special place. The hostess was very friendly and our table was ready right away. We were seated at the patio which is a must!! The heated lamps kept everyone toasty...especially on the foggy nights!
