Homosassa Manatee Snorkeling Center is located in downtown Old Homosassa. We are one of the only locations in the U.S. where you are allowed to enter the natural springs and actually observe and interact with the manatees. Our amazing Florida manatees are here all year round. My daughter is visually impaired so she needs to be very close to something to see it and she was able to send about 20 minutes with a manatee calf. We were given pre trip instructions and watched a video which gave us the rules for interacting with these gentle giants. This company and their captains love and respect these creatures. Just be patient and these curious creatures will come check you out if they aren't sleep or eating. This is a must do adventure!
There are things you do on a quick trip that make your trip "better" and then there are things like Snorkel With The Manatees that makes it a "BAM!" Trip!!! What we experienced was a "once in a lifetime" moment with 15 beautiful gentle HUGE creatures that made us appreciate their existence in the world. Beyond thankful to have bumped into their number by mishap, and looking forward to our next trip in the area.
Hey Captain Gene, we had the tour with you today. Wanted to let everybody know, that the manatee meeting that you made possible was really amazing and the best experience of our holidays up to now :) and after it, we had the best meal at the restaurant you recommended to us. I can't say enough good things about this place and Captain Gene - and we didn't even get to go on the tour! We made the trip to Florida for a [short] long weekend specifically to see and snorkel with manatees. We actually had reservations with a different company for the tour and after a bad storm came through the night before and concerns of the wind speed the day after they canceled our tour. Every time ive gone out with Captain Tracy i have had a blast my family and myself she is so amazing !
Even though it was a tough day and we didnt get to swim with manatees due to rain and tons of boaters, yall were great and offered a lifetime raincheck! Truly means a lot to us to know that we can bring our kiddos back to swim with manatees!
