It's always great to visit Lockhart, my mother's home town. Smittys was my stop this trip. Really enjoyed the food and hospitality. That old building has been accessible since long before I was a little boy visiting "The Hart". Really brought back memories. I will long remember the brisket and sausage, especially the long neck Frostie root beer.
This was the last destination of our little Hill Country road trip. The market was a neat experience even though we waited in a long line for a bit. Ordered brisket, sausage, jalapeño sausage, pork ribs and prime rib. They were out of the prime rib. Still ate heartily without it. Loved the brisket and the sausages but I did not enjoy the ribs. Turkey was outstanding! Brisket was Good! Beans ok
Good jalapeno sausage and the smoked turkey was phenomenal. Lean brisket was very good. Didn't sample ribs or other fare, but wouldn't hesitate to return to Smitty's Market. Be sure to poke your head into the actual meat shop and chat with the butcher. You might get a free tour of the pits.

My favorite place to eat at in Lockhart ! Succulent brisket, not to mention their fabulous mouthwatering pork chops and sausage is what makes this place top-notch! No need for forks, y'all-your fingers will do!!
