About this business

Ever since it was first established in 1900 by Charles Kreuz, this market has built up a reputation of being the best meat dealer in the city. No wonder residents of Lockhart and its outskirts swear by the quality of Kreuz's products. Apart from selling raw meat, the market also has a wide variety of barbecued beef and other pre-cooked products like pork and sausages. Kreuz also offers online marketing on its website.

Best barbecue I have ever tasted. Hit all the heavy hitters in Lockhart this weekend and Smitty’s was far and away the best. The brisket, prime rib and sausage were incredible. I live in Dallas so it’s a hike but I’ll definitely return.

Normally I love this place but tester the brisket was wicked tough and we found a hair in the cheese and another in the ribs. Service was good and the smoked turkey was on point.

Amazing brisket and turkey, a bit warm with the open fire and smokers, it speaks to history. Very well done.

I was told to have BBQ when I mentioned I was going to Lockhart for some horseback riding. Listened to the locals and came here - so glad I did as I had no ideas what to expect: cash only, no receipts, fresh off the barbecue meats (beef, turkey, sausage and pork are just a few choices), sides including mac and cheese, coleslaw, pickles, crackers, bread, etc. Drinks, ice cream and pie round it out. Not fine dining that's for sure, but when you eat your meat with your fingers, all you need is an appetite and napkins.
