Smile design dental has been giving me a run around for years about my insurance company Soltice. The doctor accepts my insurance but for some reason refuses to submit my dental work to Soltice to see what I should pay other than what they charge. They claim it takes to long to get there money. I was there on 06/24/2021 for a check up and when they estimated my bill they still would not go through my insurance company. They charged me $59.00 for the visit when I should have payed $6.00. I was a frequent customer with Smile Design, I even had an upcoming appointment to get veneers, etc. However, a month ago I had a crown put in. Dr. Jose was great, no complaints with her. My problem is with Smile Design's back office and billing. I have insurance and before the procedure I signed a bill of sale or an agreement stating what I am responsible to pay and what my insurance will pay. I set up a new patient appointment at this practice since Humana's dental plan is accepted by them. I wanted to make sure that I was covered, so in setting up the appointment, I asked their representative on the phone if my insurance was accepted and what it covered. She told me yes it was accepted and that everything in my initial visit would be covered. When I went for the appointment, I had a bite wing xray and they tested my gums for gingivitis. Concerning Smile Design Located in: Osprey Cove professional park, Lutz Fl. I have been going to the same dentist, Hawley and Hawley for almost 20 years. At the time it was a family owned business. It was taken over by Smile Design and turn into a practice based more on greed than health. The Hawley office was located in Osprey Cove professional park, Lutz Florida and that same office is now run by Smile Design, even though the Hawley family picture remains on the wall. I was at the downtown Tampa location for 4 hours. I was scheduled for 2 services at 12pm. I was told after the cleaning that the fill that was done 3 weeks prior that fell off and was hurting me could not be fixed that day. This is the second scheduling issue I had with them. Then they "squeezed" me in as if they were doing me a favor.The doctor filed down my broken tooth and called it a day, then filled in my front tooth, didn't check to see if it was okay, or showed it to me and walked out to the next patient. Took it months a two set of dentures and they still don't fit. And I am being billed $290. For signing a contract that was not thoroughly explained to me. I told them if not covered by insurance I did not want it.

Unhappy because my deep cleaning requires pre authorization and they did not even try to get it. I am now being billed for $110 besides the $15 I paid to them. It was their fault they did not get approval. They had 6 months to do so. I will not recommend this because of the office manager's error.

Review hard to navigate, make it easy from main website and /or email link post service. Great team, with great intentions and client interfacing skills. Accommodated a semi-emergency situation for a new patient immediately by working them in.
