On a recent trip out of state, my daughter and I were on the hunt for some local flavor and stumbled across Slope & Hatch. The spot is small, but it has that kind of welcoming vibe that makes you want to settle in and stay awhile. This place has a great business model. Simple menu of easy, quick to prepare foods, minimal labor (order at the counter and self-service tableware, etc ) and fast turnover in a small space. The ginormous tacos were quite good. And more than we could eat. There are a few local beers on tap but many others in cans. It's a hoot and it's right downtown.
My review is based per usual solely on the ease of getting my wife fed as she is celiac. The person working the counter didn't feel to truly know what was gluten free and what was not. If you know Celiac, you know it's not fun to play a guessing game. We asked for no cheese (dairy intolerant), the nachos came out with a huge pile of cheese on them.
