Simpatica was born out of our butcher counter in Citymarket Northwest in January of 2005. We quickly realized that we would need more space to accommodate our burgeoning catering company. In June of 2005, we moved into the Pine Street Studios building (828 SE Ash St.), and following in December that same year, Simpatica Dining Hall opened to host our public dinners and brunch. At Simpatica, the main reason that we got into catering was to offer a unique experience. We push ourselves to offer food that rivals top restaurants ... read more

Great Food, REALLY Loud! – We didn't know exactly what to expect from a "dining hall" experience, but boy were we impressed. This small restaurant makes a big impression with high quality food and a terrific team of waitstaff. We had the best mussel soup we have ever had and the dessert of lemon mousse in a cookie cannoli was the perfect ending to the meal. The wine pairings for each course were perfectly balanced. The only part of the meal that wasn't outstanding was the main course which was good, just not great--pork loin... read more
Sympatica NOT at all Sympatica – We met for a much anticipated dinner on March 17, made the reservations 2 months in advance especially to let staff know that we had 2 vegetarians (non-meat eaters). We called to check on the reservation a week in advance and discussed the table of 8 having 2 vegetarians. At NO time did we receive the impression that there was any problem with providing 2 vegetarian meals - until we walked into the restaurant. The Hawaiians, Southerners, and Portlanders arrived on time and met outside the res... read more
Wonderful, fun evening with fabulous food, great service and terrific company! – Having read about Simpatica in the WSJ while in New York, we decided we had to try it. I am so glad we did. The evening was a ton of fun. We got there and were greeted promptly and seated promptly. Drink orders were taken quickly and the evening started on a wonderful note with the Champagne Cocktail. Needless to say, all aspects of the meal were wonderful, the flavor, presentation of the food, as well as the service made us definitely want to g... read more
Best brunch in town!! – Brunch is incredible!! Went there for the first time this weekend. The meat was amazing, the other breakfast items were delicious. The staff was friendly, the chef was nice enough to comp one of our meals because they ran out of chicken after our order had been placed. It's basically in the basement of an apartment building (kinda weird) and the waiting area is like sitting in an office building hallway and is clogged by a large table, but the actual restaurant is cute and the open kitchen is cool. Don't miss it! – We've gone twice recently, once for the Kansas City (or maybe it was St Louis) BBQ, and once for brunch. The ribs were AMAZING, as was the rest of the dinner, finished with Ooey Gooey Butter Cake, YUM! Brunch we had a large group and were able to sample many things from the menu and all were extremely good, if the corned beef hash is on the menu ORDER IT, it's the best ever!
Food lovers must go! – I had been reading about Simpatica for a while, but hadn't made it in for a meal yet. There is a fixed menu for dinners, and I can be a finicky eater. I looked through the menu for this past Thursday and decided to try for a reservation. Luckily, they had a large party cancel, so I was in luck. I wasn't sure about the communal seating either. I was very happily surprised at how wonderful both the dining companions as well as the food were. All of the people around me were also very into good local food... read more
Amazing. Simply amazing. – Here's the deal: these people make the best food in town, hands down. I've been going to their brunches for more than a year and a half, every Sunday. I've never been disappointed. Never. That's frikkin' incredible. Food times are never slow, service is always great, smiles are always had, and the food is UNBELIEVABLE! Get yourself on their mailing list, support this local business, go to their catered dinners, and go to ten sandwiches on Sunday nights. It's the church of food, and it's even reason... read more
The folks from Viande Meat and Sausages butcher shop have created a small subterranean restaurant with an unusual twist. – In Short Though it's a friendly neighborhood place, no walk-ins are allowed here. Instead, would-be diners must sign up for a weekly menu newsletter and make reservations in advance. Dinners are Friday and Saturday nights only and feature three to four Italian-influenced courses with a focus on naturally raised meats and local produce. On Sundays, the brunch and "ten sandwiches" supper are open to all an... read more
