However with the demise of the Great Gorge Railway in 1938, the construction of a superhighway to Toronto, and excessive pollution strangling the river, the waterfront declined. The only activity was the piling of sand dredged from the river bottom. Beginning in 1978 the waterfront had a rebirth. The village trustees purchased the land and opened it up to fishing, and a launch was put into place. We love going to the Silo during the warmer months. The view is beautiful, the food is delicious, and the ice cream is perfection. The vibe is very family friendly and the area has such a friendly feeling too!
2nd time there and the haystack was as good as the first was. What a great sandwich!
Fast, friendly service. My first time trying the vegetarian haystack and I’m hooked. A welcome discovery and beautiful views of the Niagara escarpment.
The haystack was very good and huge!! Our daughter LOVED the grilled cheese. Very friendly service!

Really good food. Beautiful view of the Niagara River. Very busy for Mother's Day but service was very good. Definitely recommend.
