Oily, salty food, dreadful service. Don't bother. – I had heard such good things about this place, but it really doesn't live up to the hype, or its potential. We arrived there to _finally_ be greeted (after about 15 minutes of being ignored) with complete confusion about our reservation. Eventually they figured it out, and we were seated, where we had to wait another 10 minutes before even being acknowledged by our waitress. A few very simple questions about the food revealed that the waitress DOESN'T know the food, she had... read more
Thai YUM! – Have always enjoyed everything here--I believe this is what Typhoon used to try to be, but never quite succeeded at. Interesting preps with local ingredients and authentic Thai flavorings; service has always been knowledgable and efficient, maybe not the fastest or friendliest, but well worth the standard 20%. Their seafood anything has always been a great crowd pleaser, and we've dined in twosomes up to eight with few hiccups in seating.
Avoid if you have a group or want good service – While Siam Society offers some of the best Thai infusion and amazing drinks their servicesleaves something to be desired. I have been there more than 5 times and I can only say that one of those times was a pleasant experience. Recently we had a birthday party there for 13 people, we were told to be there at 6:00 so we wouldn't interfere with their busy time, which we respect and understand. We arrived at 6:00 and were immediately told we would have to be out of there by 8:00 ... read more
Diamond in the not so rough – After casually passing the building twice, a quest for parking to be sure, I was amazed at how the building set itself apart from the neighborhood...yet belonged at the same time. Pushing the archaic doors open drafts smells of Indian Mace and Cardamom into the nostrils, an olfactory appertif. I don't often consume the top-shelf style infusions available here, but a nice 10 yr. Balvenie scotch would do nicely. The service was excellent, considering the amount of people on a Friday night. Bad customer service. – The food is excellent, but it's not worth the appalling customer service. I went there on a Friday night with two friends, one of whom is six months pregnant, and we were told they would come get us next door at Bink's in a half-hour when our table was ready (Cool!) Ten minutes later, they came and got us. We rushed to finish our drinks and headed over to Siam Society, but when we got there, they had already given away our table. The wait staff apologized and told us we had the next available table, b... read more
Incredible – We went without a reservation and the place was packed. To my surprise, waiting was no big deal, as we were told to go over to the bar next door and they would personally come get us when our table was ready. Once we were seated, the expereince just kept getting better and better. The food is amazing (try the yellow curry with crispy catfish), the staff is awesome, and the space itself is unbeatable.

Best Thai in Oregon – I live in the Alberta nieghborhood and visit this restaurant on a weekly basis. I really like the bartender Don and the staff is always friendly to me. I always order a ginger lime cosmo and Khao Soi for dinner. I think it's the best restaurant in Portland. At least it's my favourite...for now. I love the happy hour, I love the private courtyard. It's a wee bit more expensive than your average Thai noodle shop, but you're paying for atmosphere and better food quality. If it were my restaurant I would hi... read more
Inconsistent – The first time I went to this chic NE hotspot, everything was magnificent. Charming service, great atmosphere, delightful cocktails and wonderful food. I was thrilled to have a higher-end restaurant in my neighborhood and raved about it to friends. However, the most recent time was very disappointing. Although the service was initially wonderful, the food was a significant issue. Our calamari and my prawns were grossly oversalted and my friend's beef was overcooked (she asked for it medium and it came well don... read more
