Hernia repair done at a resort. From entering to exiting after surgery, a complete courteous, polite and professional service. Doctors, nurses, and the staff were all nice except if you have any food allergies, be cautious to ask the server about the food you get served even if you have the allergy band. Overall except the pain from the surgery, it was a good experience and definitely recommended this hospital for hernia repair.
I was diagnosed with a hernia by my doctor in March. I wanted to be treated at Shouldice, so I booked an appointment, but they couldn't see me for a consultation until mid-August. In the meantime, my hernia became strangulated. I almost died and had to undergo emergency surgery. The pain was unbearable, and the trauma is irreversible. What I don't understand is why it takes Shouldice so long just to schedule a consultation with a surgeon. I strongly caution anyone against waiting for Shouldice. My experience, some years ago, as a 41 year old FEMALE i experienced an unprofessional and distressing consultation at Shouldice for an inguinal hernia evaluation. The interaction failed to meet basic standards of patient care, clinical respect, and communication. The consultation lacked standard clinical boundaries and privacy protocols. If you're debating having surgery here, stop thinking about it and book a time. From my initial consult all the way to discharge they've been world class. Absolutely fantastic staff. All the doctors are amazing, they instill a great sense of confidence in the patients and are very reassuring and caring. The nurses are fantastic, so solicitous and eager to make everyone comfortable and speed their recovery.
