this place is horrid – I have never been compelled to write a review of a restaurant before. it was that bad. gave this place 2 tries in the last three months because I love sushi and it is in a convenient location from my house. terrible both times. what a shame since the location is great....right in the middle of the grandview avenue area. it smells like sewage in the bar area. the sushi is average at best. the prices are high. they have no draft beer. the red wine was too warm and tasted like it had been opened then reco... read more

THE WORST FOOD I HAVE EVER TASTED!!!!!!!!! – I went home and had the stomache flu because of a california roll. HOW CAN YOU SCREW THAT UP? Well I guess the owner dae knows. Just to make it clear afterword I went to the doctor and it was because of the food.

not the best – I've been to Shoku a few times and I have no complaints about the food, but the service is terrible. On a slow Sunday we waited foreveeeeeeer for our check and practically everything else. It was painful.

Won't make this mistake again. – 2 for dinner outside. Requested a table with umbrella, but told only for parties of 4. 10 minutes later party of 2 seated at larger table with Umbrella. Patio never filled up. Food very slow, boring. Server was nice and apologetic, but clear she couldn't fix it. Sever was not knowledgeable on food or sake'. Sorry.

Wow , just awfull service and food quality. – Wow, I should have taken the previous reviews to heart. But we went anyway. This establishment has the worst service in town and is only topped by the poor quality food. It took 30 min to take our order, and 40 min after that to deliver the cold food. Item ordered does not mention it is spicy but couldn't even eat more than a forks worth and ended up splitting the spouses tastless cold entree. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY – I had been a big fan of Shoku for many years. It has been a bit since I last visited. I was told by several friends that their recent visits had been disappointing. I should have listened. I had a chicken dish that was awful. When I informed my waitress she just looked at me and smiled. We spent $50.00 for two, without drinks, on this dinner. such a disappointment – I had such high hopes for Shoku, as it came with good recommendations from friends in the Grandview area. I now have to conclude they know nothing about sushi. I ordered the sweet potato roll and the veggie tempura roll with asparagus and squash. I asked if the chef could leave out the fried onion from my sweet potato roll, and the waitress said it would be no problem. She was wrong. My roll had almost more onion than anything else in it. Marginal at best – We had high expectations for Shoku and they failed to meet them. Started out with the tuna tataki (lightly seared tuna) and it was terrible. Chewy and a fishy taste. The miso soup, edamame and Dragon roll were actually all good, but nothing about any of those things screams sushi since it is almost all cooked. My only recommendation is that Haiku has much better food and atmosphere if you want sushi. I am still searching for a good spot in Columbus if anyone knows of one.

My girlfriend and I have wanted to try this place for awhile now. We always sit at the sushi bar when we go out for sushi, unfortunately we were sat next to the meanest old korean lady we have ever seen. She was so rude to the staff the entire time we were there. Our server actually apologized to us because we had to sit next to where she eats. She kept yelling at the servers for no apparent reason.
