Editorial fromYes, everyone is doing Pan-Asian and sushi these days---but Shoku does it better than most, cooking up truly original specials in addition to the Japanese-Thai-Chinese selections you would expect to find elsewhere. The decor makes striking…

Americ-Asian and bland – The atmosphere is pleasant enough but the food is about as Americanized as you can get. I ordered pad thai and it came without cilantro, lime or chili sauce. When i asked for these things, the waiter said that they stopped carrying them because the Americans didn't know how to eat pad thai and they went to waste. The sushi was also small. If you want good Asian Fusion, Haiku is MUCH better and about the same price.
Still best sushi in town – For real sushi fan, this is the place. Is always clean, fresh. Staff is turned over in recent years but same owner, same manager...same grandma watching over. Anyone who complains about a wait for sushi.........needs to get a fish sandwich and McDonalds.....you wait for sushi....eat, drink, enjoy. Of course you are there and you see any 5'4 short angry old men at a table with a date for hire...move on, he is a mean one...Other than that, it is still best dining experience in the 43212 zip......Next... read more
restaraunt or BMV? – my wife and i, went to shoku on a whim thinking it would be a nice place to eat as we have heard, yet the service was only okay at best, at least for us, other tables near us seemed to have better service. our 45+ minute wait for sushi that was seemingly unfresh was almost unbearable. the restaraunt wasn't even very busy. to somewhat ruin our otherwise quite evening, there was an older woman yelling at the staff quite loudly in front of patrons as if we were'nt there at all, i must assume she is a manage... read more
Dirty – Lazy service, dirty dining room, too pricey for what you get, dirty kitchen, none of the sushi tasted fresh, need I say more?
absolutely terrible service, sub par sushi – The atmosphere at Shoku is nice, but the service is POOR. My friends and I waited on our sushi for well over an hour on a tuesday night. We didn't see our server the entire time and asked a blonde 'manager' if she could check on our food. We informed her that it had been over an hour waiting for our sushi at which point she argued with us and refused to help. When the sushi finally came the portions were poor. One of my friends commented on this and over hearing us the waiter prom... read more
Wow- what a horrible experince – The rolls and sushimi were not fresh and was probably the smallest porion I've ever seen a a resturant, this after taking 40 mins even though there were 6 people in the resturant. After complaining to the waiter, he said "thats too bad, you're in Ohio." I've had much better experiences in Ohio, and won't be back
Skip Shoku and skip on over to Haiku. – Four of us went on a Saturday night and were disappointed. The hostess seemed board and clueless, we were crammed around a tiny table and the waiter was mostly MIA. There was a large LCD TV on the wall which was distracting, especially when CSI came on with bloody images of a small girl getting her throat cut. (We had them change the channel.) The food was relatively expensive and pedestrian. Will not return. Do Haiku instead.
Small sashimi pieces. Not worth the price – I ordered the sashimi combo & the pieces were so small. The tuna & salmon did not taste fresh. The salmon was chewy. The uni was good. I asked for a bowl of rice & they charged 1.50 for it.
Spicy Tuna and Rainbow Roll! – We went on a quiet Sunday night, found street parking, were seated immediately, and had an enjoyable, healthy, fresh meal. The Rainbow Rolls and Spicy Tuna were particularly good. My husband loved the spinach salad appetizer. The vegetable tempura was lovely, but I suspect it was not deep fried in a dedicated vegetarian fryer. That is my only complaint, but I should have asked first. The chef mixed up our order a bit and so we got way more food than we ordered and didn't pay extra for it. Abund... read more
