DO NOT SEE DR. W FOR COMPLEX CASES!! I saw Dr. W for chronic neck and back pain, as well as nerve pain. First, the office delayed sending over paperwork for my cervical MRI. Then, Dr. W dismissed the findings as normal, which other doctors disagree with, especially since they are clearly symptomatic. When I mentioned that my condition and lower back were worsening, and my PT even thought I needed more imaging, he said I was just depressed and needed therapy. Dr. Wijesekera projects a contagious calm that put me at ease. He encourages his patients to ask questions, and explains the surgical and post surgical procedures in a comprehensible way. I have complete faith in him.
Dr W is the consummate doctor and surgeon. From the very first meeting, he explained my condition, reviewed options and we agreed that surgery was the most viable recovery for me. At the hospital before surgery, he was reassuring and explained again what he was going to do. After surgery, he was there to make sure I was ok. This may be his “job” as a doctor but it’s his bedside manner that makes him stand out from the crowd.
