best sushi around! – Everything at shiki sushi is wonderful. The wait staff, the host, and the management. Everything is very enjoyable. The buy one get one free is a good deal, as it is exactly what it says. You buy the more expensive of the two and the second one is free. I honestly think that they have the best sushi around, and the best for your money. I look forward to going once a week!
Displeased with the half price thing, service; sticking with Akashi – After being referred by work friends to Akashi, we wanted to try the place their owner started in- Shiki. Honest assessment is this place is better for a date as far as money spent on decor and was indeed doing much more business than Akashi dreams of (at least at night, which is when we go). great food at great prices – I stumbled upon this place randomly, but I'm happy I did as it is located close to my house. The hostess at the front door was "busy" doing something else, but we were picked up by someone else and seated. Except for the hostess, everyone else has been incredibly friendly (incl. our waiter). Worst sushi I've got in triangle area – I've been there several times and it was very professional service with good sushi there in the past years. Now it's like a long wait for my order and long wait for getting water refilled. All the waiters were standing there to chat around. They did not even notice my water is gone for a long time. Sushi has gone downhill!!! – Okay, so I used to come to this place at least one a week. The sushi and service were great! I was so excited when they introducted the buy one get one free sushi as it meant I could go even more often! However, the last 5 or 6 times I have gone, the food and service have both gone downhill. Best Sushi in Durham – Shiki is a great place for some good sushi in Durham. I still love Penang in Chapel Hill for the food (worse service imagineable), but Shiki Sushi does it up right. They offer the buy one get one free every night for dine-in orders only, which is a great deal on paper. But the rolls you'll pay for are expensive and you still get taxed on the free ones. Best Sushi in Durham – Great sushi, good service, and great prices! Beware of going in a group - they won't split checks so you end up getting "buy one pieces of $9 sushi, get one piece of $3 sushi free." Otherwise, great deal!
We've Always Enjoyed Shiki Sushi! – My wife and I dine here at least 1-2 times a week and have always enjoyed our experience here. We've tried sushi at a number of different places in the area and have found the rolls and nigiri at Shiki to be as good or better than the others. Worst service anywhere! – I give this restaurant a 1 only because the sushi was actually decent. (Otherwise I would give it a zero.) It is the WORST service I have ever received in my life. No staff member greeted me when I arrived; I had to ask the girl behind the hostess desk to seat me (she just stood there looking at me and doing nothing for 5 full minutes).
