I have been taking my two dogs to Dr. Darnell for about 8 years. I recently had to put one of my precious children to sleep, Gimpy. Gimpy loved her and my dog Piglet as well. They bounded in the door to give the staff kisses. Dr. Darnell was caring and informative and always wanted the best for the animals regardless of that strong bond with all of her clients. Adrian my 12 year old boxer loves it here! No matter what she is there for, she gets super happy to see Dr. Darnell and all the staff.
Dr Darnell is amazing. She is very knowledgable and down to earth. She is compassionate and understanding. I drive over an hour for her to treat my pets. She is truly the best vet I have worked with in my 25 years of pet ownership.
I just want to take a moment to thank Dr. Barbara Darnell with Shelter Island Veterinary Hospital and her incredible staff. They do more for rescue groups than any other vet around and are currently working overtime to save a cat with a local non-profit organization. If you are considering a vet to care for your animals, please consider this one! Support this practice owned by a local family who does so much for the community.
