My 7 year old mortgage was assigned to Shellpoint. I’ve had this experience before, never been an issue beyond changing the payment address. It has been very difficult working with Shellpoint culminating in a 6 week harassment campaign, threatening to charge me for lender proved coverage at a cost of $4,000, where they simply needed to be added to an existing policy. UTTERLY INCOMPETENT is a nice way of saying that this company is the WORST I've ever dealt with. I have perfect credit and have never in my life been late on a bill. They HAVE my January payment but are too inept to find it in their own accounts and are telling me that I didn't pay it and treating me like someone who is delinquent on their bills. As a short sale professional, I have had multiple opportunities to work with Shellpoint. I have not had a bad transaction with them. They are quick and efficient. The last employee I had was kind, courteous and very accommodating. Nice job Shellpoint!
So far this has been the worst experience I've ever had with a mortgage company. The rudeness, incompetence, slow return of any paperwork needed, overall a terrible decision.
Nothing short of a nightmare from day one. They notified me on 11/04/2019 that they acquired my mortgage effective 10/31/2019. They've lost wire transfers from my bank (how do you do that?). Paid my property taxes 3 months late, then billed the late fee's to my escrow account. To add insult to injury, they raised my escrow payment over the late fee's that they incurred by paying late. This company uses malfeasance and nefarious business practices to try and liquidate your home. I do not say that lightly. They are a predatory loan servicing company. Steps you should take - 1. Do file a BBB complaint and leave a review. 2. Report them to the Attorney General’s Consumer Protection Division in your state which can be done through a simple online form. 3. Horrible! Horrible! Horrible! A month after they bought my mortgage they credited one of my payments to someone else's account and then reported my next three payments as delinquent to the credit bureaus. It took over nine months to straighten that out. They were supposed to pay my property taxes in November. Instead they sold my mortgage this past March and didn't tell me until May. I just paid over $300 in penalties because of their incompetence. Thank God they are no longer my mortgage company.
Shellpoint Mortgage Servicing - BY FAR - is the absolute worst organization that I have ever had to deal with..and not by choice - my loan was sold to them. Customer service agents have "now idea" as to how to help you beyond just reading their script, and reading what's available on their screen. Absolutely no clue or authority to address problems.
