My daughters and I love the Shaw Nature Reserve! Their favorite is the nature explore area by the visitor center. The cedar log bridges, hobbit house, musical instruments, sandboxes and butterfly swing are all amazing fun. My oldest also loved doing nature bingo and the TaleBlazer app games! I can’t pick a favorite. The whitmire wildflower garden is always beautiful but I also love the walk from the Trail House down to the Meramec river. So beautiful. A very friendly staff of volunteers. There was a man outside the visitor center who was very helpful finding things. The ladies who ran the Wilderness wagon were super knowledgeable. The hostess in the Bascom house was a delight. We had a beautiful day there. I suggest you pack a lunch and spend the entire day. Family friendly.

Great trails to hike to the river. Forests, wetlands, and prairies all in one spectacular setting. Stop by the visitor's center to learn about all the native plants you will encounter.
