In the 21st Century all places should accept credit cards I like this place (Chana Masala for around $5) but I wish they accepted credit cards. I do not like carrying cash and they have one of those ATM machines that charge $4. If your in the neighborhood and have cash this is a good spot.

Fantastic Indian Food! – I went to Shalimar last night for the first time, after exhausting all the other options in Little Bombay (Jones and O'Farrell). Shalimar is by far the best -- every dish had a complex spice taste to it that was unlike any other Indian meal I've ever had. The ghost was fantastic, the tandoori was flavorful and JUICY (really hard to pull off), the mango lassi was perfect. A bit oily and in a sheisty neighborhood, but well worth it. One of my top meals ever.

Awesome Food Reminds of you of highway joints (Dhabas) in India. Chicken dishes are great and really cheap too. Would strongly recommend lovers of Indo-Paki food to try it. Not for people who like mellowed down Indian-American cuisine.

What do you expect? – The place was confusing (we had no idea we had to order at the counter), the restaurant was noisy and chaotic, and they forgot one of our dishes. But have you SEEN the PRICES? I didn't expect five star dining, just five star food. And it was. Absolutely the cheapest, most delicious Indian food I have had in a long while. And that's the point, isn't it? Good food?

Overrated – Good naan isn't enough to redeem Shalimar. The service was chaotic and confusing - even though we went in expecting a counter-service experience. No one explained where or how to get beverages, or whether we or a roving waiter were supposed to pick up our food when it was reader, or who we were supposed to pay. Add to that a noisy, jam-packed dinining room, and it's hard to understand what people like about the place. The prices are cheap, yes, but the food isn't anything to write home about.

Great Indian Shalimar is hands down the best Indian/Pakistani food in the city. They have the best naan ever, as well as tandoori chicken, lamb, etc. I love their chicken tikka masala, as well as the other veggie side dishes. Service is a little abrupt, but who cares since the food is so good. Cheap too.

Indian Treats I love this restaurant and it's the first Indian place I've been to. They have great service, food, and a lot of people love to come here to eat. It's a family-friendly place. My favorite foods they have are the eggplant dishes, the chicken masala, the rice, and of course, the naan (Indian flat bread)! If you want to try a new, exotic cuisine, Shalimar is the place to go!

Great Indian Food Shalimar is one of the better indian joints in SF. I will say that if you go for lunch, be ready for an afternoon nap, because the food has a tendency to knock you out. Overall the curries are excellent and from what I hear, pretty authentic.
