I have been to Shagger Jacks several times and enjoyed it; however, tonight was very disappointing. It was a Saturday night and busy. We did not mind waiting for a table, but once we were seated we waited 30 minutes for apps. Our food followed about ten minutes after and was lukewarm. I noticed that one of the backwaiters picked up our food at the window but stood behind the bar with our plates for 5 minutes. Such great food..
If I could give this place 0 stars I would. We were met at the door by some teenager an hour before closing and told we couldn’t come in “because they were going to be there past closing”. That’s what we get for trying to eat local. Hey Shagger Jacks, if you want to get out of work an hour before closing then close an hour earlier. As a new Oak Island homeowner, I can’t wait to tell all of my neighbors about this terrible experience
Don’t support this place! Refused to serve us when we showed up an hour before closing. We ending up having a better dinner at Provision Co. which happened to close at 9:00 too!

The food made my mother-in-law sick. While I appreciate the black bean patty (& was super excited one was actually available), it is made with eggs. Not vegan friendly. I couldn’t even get a veggie burger because even that had animal products in it. I get it. I’m at a seafood beach restaurant in the south but cmon. There was even dairy in the vinaigrette dressing (which should be just oil and vinegar.) I gave an extra star for the service. Our waiter was super sweet and attentive. We come here every year for our big family dinner! It’s our one dinner out and this is the only place we want to go to! They always accommodate our large party of 20+ and have amazing service and food!
RecommendedWe ate here for the 1st time. I highly recommend it. The prices were not bad and the food was great but best of all the staff was super friendly.
