I had reconstruction surgery following breast cancer. I stayed overnight for observation. During my stay I was never given 2 of my much needed medications one was for diabetes. And my other diabetes medication I was given an incorrect dose. Despite the fact that I filled out the preadmission paperwork and I wrote all of my medications, went over my meds again with the nurse over the phone and upon admission I went over my medications they still could not get it right. there is never been a time that i have been to this ER and my wait has been less than 5 hours, EVEN WHEN I CAME BY EMT....thats piss poor management. Then when i ask they tell me there are no beds but when they call me back im counting the beds and i am at a loss for words. Its crazy to have that many physicians and having to wait with that many empty beds.
Pretty terrible when they lay a patient on the floor in the waiting room, who is in to much pain to sit or stand and came in by ambulance!
I would like to sincerely thank the care team at Sentara Obici for the exceptional care my husband, Donald Goodwin, received during his surgery and overnight stay in the ER yesterday. His doctors, Dr. Bhende and Dr. Jason (can't remember last name) did an extraordinary job on his surgery!! His ICU nurses, Chelsea Cannon and Melanie Wright, gave him excellent care, for which he is so grateful and thankful. My fiancee was in there last night, with diabetes, a swollen scrotum and a heart functioning at 20%. They didn't treat him and sent him home. When he returned, they again refused to treat him and he refused to leave and they threatened to call security and have him removed. He is at his wits end as to how to make things better. He even had a nurse tell him to his face that she didn't care what happened to him.
