I was a visitor not too long ago for my friend who identifies as transgender. And they/he complained to me about a guard that was very persistent about talking to them. They described the guard as a man on the shorter side who has tan skin and appeared to be Asian. Unfortunately I had a terrible experience with a guard, I asked the front desk what his name was and they said “June”. Not only was he unprofessional he was extremely rude, I simply asked him where I needed to go and he had what seemed like an attitude about simply doing his job. He seemed to be inconvenienced by me asking because he was on his phone. I received attitude, dirty looks, and inappropriate language. I cannot say enough about the kind and compassionate care I received from the staff while I spent ten days dealing with severe depression. The facility needs a lot of love due to low funding and wear and tear. But that means very little when you factor in the incredible staff of people who are there because they want to be. I will always be grateful for Sempervirens.
