Not the best vet out there. We adopted a cat here. While they try to tell you it is cheap, it really isn't. It was expensive. There are cheaper places to get one. Also, I have heard horror stories about the Vet. Everyone says he is mean. I don't know this first hand however. One good thing is that they don't kill any of the animals if they aren't adopted after a certain time. However, if they are full then they just don't accept anymore animals.

Would not recommend I found a posting with a very nice picture of the dog that we adopted from them. The dog's story pulled at my heart strings and so we checked into him and ended up adopting. Prior to the adoption I asked so many questions about the dog and his back ground, especially his health because he had been a stray for quite some time and then in different shelters for about a year. They told us that the dog will get a complete physical before he left the shelter and when it was done I was told that dog had a clean... read more

do not adopt here We adopted what appeared to be a healthy puppy on May 21. After about 1-1/2 weeks we were notified that one of her litter mates came down with parvo. Our puppy was scheduled to be spayed on June 4 and since she showed no signs of parvo, they went ahead and did her surgery. Two days later on Sunday morning, the puppy became lethargic and wouldn’t eat. I called Scottsville and was told to bring her in the next day. Later in the day, we decided she was going to make it another day so we brought her into the ... read more

Never again! We adopted a puppy from Scottsville over a year and a half ago. While filling out the adoption paperwork, they informed us that her brother was just put to sleep because he was exposed to and had contracted distemper. Because this had happened to him, they told us our new puppy was also exposed, although she did receive her 1st distemper shot, but to be aware and watch for symptoms. She was a sick little girl, which we knew going into this. They did inform use she was previously on antibiotics for an infection a... read more

EVERY puppy has parvo Like many other reviewers I adopted a dog from them( at a petsmart in henrietta). I was able to meet a dog i thought was cute. After spending about 30 minutes getting to know him and his brother, we decided to adopt one. We filled out an application handed over cash and that was that, we left with the dog. It was on a sunday so our vet was not open to check references. Luckily, the puppy was going to a good home. We were not informed he was in a litter with parvo until i got home and saw it scribbled on... read more

mixed feelings I also adopted my puppy at the end of may 2010, and also received a call saying that one of her puppy mates had been diagnosed with parvo and i took her in and the test was negative. She then got sick a couple weeks later and she had a parasite which they gave me the medicine for free to get rid of it. Other then that I have not had any problems with her. I do however think that the male doctor is to say bluntly a jerk. i brought her in on a saturday because she seemed to have a runny nose and he wouldnt even ... read more

I wouldn't take my pup anywhere else! My husband and I just recently adopted a puppy from Scottsville, and have been nothing but pleased with their care of our little pup! Yes, it was expensive to adopt, but he came with vaccinations, was neutered, had a physical and free two week check-up. When you add up what it would cost to complete all of that independently, it would have been much more. Not only that, but he was a little sick after a few days with us, and they saw him and treated him for free, and gave us the meds he n... read more

Great with the animals and their people. I have adopted a cat from Scottsville Vet Hospital and take my dog there as well. They are wonderful to my animals and I believe the prices are comparable to other vets. Yes it does cost a bit more to adopt from them but they have many animals that they have with them for a long time. The cat I adopted from them had been there for over a year before I discovered her. It you think about how much it costs to feed/house/vaccinate one cat for a year and multiply that by the number of othe... read more
