Finally Happy – I just read the reviews below and it is funny how different of experiences ppl have at this salon. I started going to Scott J years ago. Had a hairdresser that I liked, but could do without her attitude. Then she gave me a bad haircut and I decided to take my business elsewhere. Really nice! – I just had my hair cut by Jocelyn and I LOVE it. The staff was very friendly, the salon is in a great location and is very nicely set up and Jocelyn is extremely talanted. When I went home and realized I needed a little more taken off the sides, I called and they fit me in later the same day, with Jocelyn, free of charge. She took her time with the touch up and I really appreciated the attention to detail. She got me and I look great! Thanks!
Badd Customer Service – I called to make an appointment. I was on hold for awhile (5 minutes or more) but im a receptionist so i totally understand. The woman answered I asked if there was any space at 9:30, she said rudely and i mean rudely i dont know, no in the same breath. So i said very nicely literally just asking, o you dont know? and she said even nastier ehhh i can check even tho ugh i checked two seconds ago. I called her a bitch and hung up. BIIITCH, gettaa job that suites you.
Mediocre Staff, Awful Stylists. Avoid Juliette. – I am a long-time Aveda customer, Pure Privilege member, and have had my hair cut for years and years at various Aveda salons, and Scott J at Columbus was by far the worst customer service and experience I have ever had. During our consultation I described what I wanted to Juliette, which was just a simple trim on the ends of my hair and a long fringe - so it would go below my eyebrow line. Overall NOT worth it, disappointing based on reputation – GOOD: The only reason I trek up to here is b/c of Ellen. She cuts my hair amazingly everytime! I have long, layered, very thick hair (kind of like Blake Lively), and Ellen gets it right all the time. Plus she's super-nice, and doesn't force conversation if you don't want it (I like to just relax and zone out). ----- BAD: I had a Groupon ($50 for $100 worth), so I got the Hair Spa Treatment. Easy and Reasonable – I have been using this salon for 5 yrs and think a review about why I leave and why I come back might be helpful to others. This place is easy for anyone to get to being near to a lot of subway lines and the prices are reasonable. I never feel ripped off. There is rarely any problem with getting an appointment when you want and they have a great choice of stylists etc. The main issue I have with this place that makes me take my business elsewhere occasionally is that bad atmosphere. bring back the spa!! – This is the most chaotic experince in which to have your hair done. Frenetic, assistant s ar e often better than the stylists. Horrible blow outs-No need to go here. Try Paul Lebreque at Reebok fo r better stylists and quieter yet still "bustling " city atmosphere.
Terrble Color - way overpriced – I went in for a single process and half head of highlights. The color is terrible. So much darker than what I wanted and very very dull. I have a huge color stain along my hairline and to top it off it cost $50 more than Cutler and Bumble. Do not go here for color.
More trouble than its worth! – The front desk staff made a huge fuss about a payment error that they had made (arguing with one-another, acting annoyed with me, etc.)-- I left feeling embarrassed and stressed out with a not-so-great overpriced haircut.
