I have been frequenting SO for the last few years. The shop management and staff is at the top of their game in fly fishing knowledge, customer service, and gear selection/product knowledge. Very unique guiding experience on the Huron river, beautiful river scenery in an urban environment! Jay was an excellent teacher, and taught us the fundamentals while then addressing our issues before they became bad habits. We even got into a few river smallies! We will be coming back again!
My wife and I drifted the Flint River yesterday (May 18) with Schultz Outfitters. Our guide was Justin. I have fished for many years, but it was my wife's first time casting a fly. Justin was knowledgeable, personable, and patient. With his excellent instruction, my wife was casting proficiently in no time and catching fish. By the end of the trip, we landed more than 25 smallmouth bass and enjoyed a great day on the water. I can't say enough good about Schultz Outfitters. Book a trip with them today!
What a hoot. I have been a fly fisherman for about 6-yrs, but I still have neophyte skills. I went to Schultz Outfitters because I needed some help rigging my new 6-wt rod and reel to enable me to fish for large mouth bass and crappies on inland lakes. I talked to Corey, explained my situation, and he set my reel up with backing, line, leader and tippet.
