Our customers love the buffet. We feature 6 garden fresh vegetable, 3 hand cut meat options, large salad bar and homemade desserts. Favorite menu items include: chicken fried steak, homemade sausage, fried chicken, schnitzel and of course pie. Everyone deserves pie - homemade buttermilk pie, coconut meringue pie, apple pie and chocolate meringue pie are as good as it gets!

OMG - Loved it!!!! – Ok - originally from the South and now live up North. Found myself driving for business between Houston and Austing as lunchtime was near. And there was Schobels. Didnt expect much - though in a small town, tons of cars outside - just wanted something other that fast food. Well...I got more than I was expecting. It was so good and fresh - perfectly prepared. Great Buffet – This restaurant has wonderful a salad bar, fresh veggies and homeade desserts. I highly recommend a stopping when traveling between Houston and San Antonio.
Great Place to Stop – The first time we ate here it was on a cross country drive and we wound up in Columbus by accident..a lucky accident, at that. The second time we ate here was also on a cross country drive and this time we planned it so that we could eat at Schobel's. It's not that the food is so unusual or special. It's just that it's consistently good all-American chow that tastes good and makes you happy to have it. If they have the buttermilk pie on the menu, order it! It's outstanding.
Columbus: More than just a potty stop! – Columbus, Texas is a small blip on the road (I-10 to be precise) about 1/2 way between Houston and San Antonio. I find out interesting that no matter where I travel in Texas, if someone has heard of Columbus, it's either because a) they stop their on their roadtrips for a potty stop or b) they stop there for a quick bite at Schobels' Restaurant.
