After a month of waiting for an appointment with the neurosurgeon my PCP first suggested, I was able to get in here and had surgery, and two weeks of recovery before I’d have had my first appointment with the other doctor. I had Schlesinger do my back surgery in Aug. Of 2016. 6 hour surgery with 4 hardware and 2 rods and all done on a outpatient basis. I suffered enough to want to die and he was not good with his pain control. He did a MRI and xrays to see if the Hardware was ok and said everythings FINE. Suffered 9 months and had to have a complete revision by another surgeon. That surgeon said he was able to take out one of the hardware with his fingers. This post raises several issues that I am happy to have the opportunity to address: 1) Post-operative pain: Despite our best efforts, some patients with problems serious enough to require neurosurgery can sometimes have residual pain post-operatively. This depends a great deal on the nature and extent of the underlying problems and what had to be done at the time of surgery to address them.
