Beautiful and peaceful, could have spent much more time there (only had a couple hours).

I'm from London, so was my first visit. I walked around for about 2 and a half hours. I enjoyed looking at the various botanicals and beautifully manicured gardens. The lakes and ponds were beautiful. I managed to find the twined gazebo I had driven past a few days earlier, it's an absolutely huge structure. A hive of activity. Great place for kids to have an adventure.
Need misting areas... very hot without respite misting areas... more bathrooms... and more access to hydration... jus sayin...

You'll be pleased to know that in addition to the bathrooms in the Doris Duke Center and the Terrace Gardens, we are building a new bathroom in the Asiatic Arboretum near Pine Clouds Mountain Stream. We also added a new water fountain in that garden. And we encourage visitors to bring water bottles to fill at our fountains. We hope you'll come back again when temperatures aren't so high. Fall is a gorgeous time at Duke Gardens!
