I stopped picking it up after reading a gushing article about a communist a year or so ago. Maybe you can change things here & we can be just like Seattle, with their 8-ft. statue of Lenin (occasionally his hands are painted red by those who've read history). There's a book Death by Govt. that tallies the death tolls at 170 million by all the different 'isms' - communism, socialism, nazism, etc. "The goal of socialism is communism".....Vlad Lenin

Business response:

Christy, we don't long for Sandpoint to be anything other than Sandpoint. We wish you luck finding a publication that better fits your needs.

This is a publication that wants better for the community of Sandpoint. They try to engage the community instead of just telling people what to think or reporting the police blotter. This paper is ran by people who actually love the community of Sandpoint enough to open up a conversation on sometimes uncomfortable topics, letting the reader actually think for themselves and that is some decent journalism.

Even though I moved away, I keep up with the Reader. The writing is intelligent and interesting, no talking down to us. The editor answers letters from the public very honestly. The articles are relevant to the area and the current events. The local politics and issues are faithfully followed. It's really the ideal newspaper.
