September of 2018, a water leak began from my ac and the fan in my bathroom, maintenance came by to fix AC leak and look at the leak in the bathroom, several days go by with more leaking from drip drip to Waterfall coming from my fan and my light fixture, then maintenance tells me that they will tell my upstairs neighbor not to use their toilet right before they moved out.... I renewed my lease on a month to month basis in May, but they never adjusted my rent payment. I thought it was low at first, but as months past, it was consistent and no one contacted me, so I assumed all was fine. Four months later, they charged my $1,200 more than I had been paying for my September rent. As a tenant, I moved out in Jan 2018 and did not receive my security deposit back or an itemized statement within the 21 days per CA law. I reached out several times and could not get someone to reach back out to me and the few times they did reach back out my issue was not being resolved. I finally filed a small claims case against them for my security deposit and a bad faith penalty, no one showed up for court (not surprised) and I won my case. In my opinion -Avenue 5 abuses the LIHTC Tax Credit program by treating people very badly; by not taking complaints seriously, lying and, then blaming the victim. Family told me to protect myself report this to the BBB. First they discriminate. They gave my original apartment to another applicant. Never bothered to tell me so or apologize. SRP Electric told me I couldn't move in because they gave my apartment to a Mexican Applicant. Cover up. They moved me into an apartment on a busy road and harassed me. I complained.
