This small, intimate restaurant, which opened in 1984, features Northern Italian cuisine. It is family-owned and operated by Nancy and Frank Grimaldi. Frank grew up in Italy as the son of two private chefs, and his skill in the kitchen has made San Marco one of the best Italian restaurants in the area. Food was wonderful as usual; however, service was absolutely terrible for such a fine restaurant. Asked for drinks which were never brought. When mentioned it to server, she "thought she did". Had to continuously ask for water replenishment. Table of 7 with 6 dinners being served at same time. When asked where the other dinner was we were told "the kitchen messed up because it was written on the side." Might need a new system if this is the case. Nancy & Frank are the best in the business. From the minute you step foot into their restaurant from the minute you leave they are on top of things. The timing of each meal is spread out perfectly, I’m a stickler on the temperature of food and I live a nice hot plate and that’s rare to see but they are perfect st SanMarcos. Was there last night ! First time amazing food service amazing definitely going back
First time to NY and saw the google reviews for this place. We walked in and were turned away instantly because we did not have a reservation. The restaurant was more than half empty. The waiter looked at us like we weren’t worthy enough to eat off his shoe. He said they were booked for the rest of the night. Never experienced such snootiness. Don’t waste your time with this place.
Had dinner tonight.. wild boar tender and tasty, risotto moist, vegetables al dente, best Italian (Tuscan) ever. Snapper well prepared.. sauce without the acid flavor. Bread fresh and wonderful taste, dipped in oil. Malto bene. Attentive to detail. Taramisu average. Wine complimented the meal.. Will definitely go back and recommend.
One of the best fine dining places in WNY. Food AND service, top notch.
