I have had both my shoulder replacements from Dr. Koo. I found I'm friendly enough, extremely knowledgeable, thorough and open to questions...and didn't feel rushed through my appointment. I pretty knew what to expect since I had had one replacement. But in the hospital the anesthesiologist came in and recommended an addition to the anesthesia called a 'block' and told me it would ease pain for a longer period of time and I agreed to the plan. Did not have pain the first 3 days but there was swelling in my are that dissipate... read more
Was told by Dr Koo that surgery was absolutely the only option for my shoulder tear, it needed to be done asap, and that the surgery is completely impossible to do with any kind of local anesthetic. A second Dr said my shoulder actually looks great after checking via ultrasound and told me I do not need surgery. In addition, if I did need the surgery, many doctors offer the local anesthetic option. So, I am sure Dr Koo is a great surgeon, but maybe go elsewhere to find out if you actually need the surgery first and check aro... read more
Dr. Koo and his staff were very attentive to my needs. The process was very straightforward. Communication was excellent. We had to travel over the pass for my appointments and they were very accommodating for me.My injury was complex and somewhat extreme. He discussed the process throughly and my results were far better than I expected.
Kindness and understanding. Questions answered
This is the second shoulder replacement Dr Koo has done for me. I wouldn't go anywhere else. Hie is an expert in his field, patient, and listens to what you have to say. He is calm and unflappable. His staff anticipated all my needs from prescribing meds so they could be picked up in advance to arranging advance boarding at the ferry. On the day of surgery the hospital failed to have rooms available for the surgeries scheduled. The surgical team was forced to charge operating rooms constantly causing delays. Dr Koo and staff... read more
Came to Dr. Koo after have (for too long) incredible pain in my shoulder. Dr. Koo came highly recommended by another Dr...I found Dr. Koo very professional, had a pleasant and sincere manner. He ordered tests, clearly explained the findings (rotator cuff tear and a lot of arthritis in my shoulder. He explained what options I had but it was agreed that surgery was the only real and practical option. He told me what he was going to do and what I could expect post surgery. Well, at this writing, I am 2 post surgery and doing gr... read more
Had a left shoulder replacement, and it has been amazingly good so far. A week after surgery, I use a little codeine at night only, and have unbelievable range of motion already. If my right shoulder ever gives me any problems, I wouldn’t hesitate at all—I’d go straight back to Dr. Koo. Talented, compassionate, and professional. Has a wonderful staff as well!
Very straight forward, honest, and to the point.
Good explanation of situation.
