Although this location on the border of the Pike/Pine and Capitol Hill neighborhoods is not the original Sam's, it still remains true to its roots by serving gourmet burgers, crispy fries and tasty beers just as it did when it opened in the 1940s. Since the place considers itself a tavern, visitors will find a nice cocktail menu as well and on Tuesdays, it is a great place for trivia night.

Had a great time - service was great.
I absolutely love Sam's, they have great options for me as vegetarian... And are very homey and comfortable. excellent food, great service, yum! And a great place to take large groups and Friends.

I can't find a facebook page for the SLU location, so I'm assuming this one is for both. It used to be really good, I enjoyed the food and the service was great. But now, the service is terrible. It's not about them being busy either - you're likely to get the same poor service when they are completely dead in there. It's like the servers just forget about you, sometimes taking 40 minutes to come back to you.
