The best Mexican place I’ve ever been to. And I’ve eaten at Rick Bayless’ places in the city.
My boyfriend and I came from out of town for a car meet and decided to eat at Sammy’s afterwards for dinner. Here’s the verdict: Amazing food, excellent and FAST service, and killer margaritas. Overall we were pleasantly surprised with our experience at Sammy’s. My boyfriend even said that he would make the hour and 15 minute drive back to Elgin JUST for Sammy’s. Our server German was also very polite, and on top of everything. We really enjoy Sammy’s and will be returning!
I would have given it a5 by my Tampequiña came our rare instead of medium, they were quick to fix the problem also we asked for no salt in our margaritas they definitely had salt. It was almost like the bartender possibly forgot that they weren’t supposed to have it and just dumped it into another cup. Other than that we enjoyed the food and drinks. We would go back if we didn’t live so far. We were in the area for a soccer game. Maybe next time we are in the area.

Poor, slow service on a Thursday night for over priced food. They charge $14 for a basic, regular grilled chicken taco dinner with cilantro and onion. I recommend this place if you need some exercise and want to park next door at the beef shack because the parking situation also sucks. Actually, just go to the beef shack.
