I should buy my own espresso machine :)) – stop being rude to your customers... you are snobby... and dont Roll your eyes, WE CAN SEE YOU!
Best Custom Coffee Blends Anywhere – I've been buying my home-brew coffee here for many years because they simply have the very best custom blends. Try their House Blend - it's one of the best coffees I've had anywhere. Although they can't tell you when it will be served, do not miss any opportunity to try their Mushroom Bisque soup - wowza!
Huge coffee selection! – I've been going to the Salt Lake Roasting Company for years. The coffee is outstanding, and if you want to take home a pound of something you've never tried before their selection is amazing. But be warned, the service is VERY slow and most of the staff is extremely impolite, some of them won't even make eye contact with you. It's unfortunate because if this place had better service it would be a real gem.
Rude to customers, bland taste – I've been here about five times, and that's it. I've never been treated in a remotely friendly manner by any of the employees I've dealt with... they have all seemed to come across like they're better than you... they smirk at each other, roll their eyes, give me strange looks. I have friends that say they don't have complaints, but I'm not going here anymore. Coffee Break up the street is known to be more pretentious, but I don't find their employees to be quite this bad. Sorry, Salt Lake ro... read more
Great place for tea, too. – A person used to could park on the street, right in front of the Roasting Company and cruise in to buy a cup or a pound. Now they could ride Trax. The Roasting Company roasts their coffee beans to perfection - in house! The service is excellent. The choice of different coffees to purchase from all over the world makes drinking coffee at home an entirely different experience. The owner, John, has the most impeccable manners and attention to service of any coffee shop I've ever been at to drink tea ... read more
Incredibly rude! – After arriving at Salt Lake Roasting Co., I took about 20 minutes to settle in and get started on my work before I was planning on getting up to buy my coffee and snack. The owner came up to me, interrupted my work and said "did you buy anything?" How rude! I can understand if I was here for hours or if this place was packed at the time but the place was close to empty. On top of that, they have a $5.00 minimum to use a credit card. For a coffee house, i think this is a bit ridiculous, given that most drin... read more
Bad Service – Bad service! $4.70 for a triple espresso and a fee for charging under $5.00. I can get a triple shot at Starbucks for $2.75 in less than 2 minutes with no added fees.
Very delicious tarts! – I love Salt Lake Roasting. I've been going there for years. They have delicious ciders, cocoas and fruit tarts. Their coffee is very good and my family members often buy bags of Salt Lake Roasting coffee beans to take home. This is the only coffee shop I know of in SLC that has two levels. I prefer the upstairs as it has bar style seating that is good for studying with a laptop.
Old – While the Roasting Company is one of the oldest coffee shops in town, I suspect that the owners are losing their interest in the cafe because their coffees and teas just taste OLD. I once asked the barista if I could see the beans he was using (because the coffee tasted stale!) but he refused my request for sanitary reasons. They've gotta be OLD! However, their food is actually not bad. Their quiche is a good choice for lunch, and if the cakes are fresh they are quite good as well. Go there for lunch, but have the OLD ... read more
