Quality sushi at a resonable price! – Fresh and good postions of quality sushi. The place is small and popular so expect a wait. The prices are good too and the cuts of seared tuna are nearly perfect. Service and atmosphere are just average but the sushi quality, quantity and cost is what Sakura offers best.
Great sushi, freshest fish, reasonably priced – I'm quite selective about sushi, but Sakura has, by far, the best sushi on the westside. It's a neighborhood restaurant where locals know the owners by name, as well as the comical sushi chefs (Harry!). It is ALWAYS crowded, but for a few good reasons: fresh fish, generous portions and reasonably priced. The albacore tops the list followed by the spicy tuna handroll. I'm reticent about sharing, but given the countless trendy, exorbitantly priced sushi restaurants in LA today, S... read more
Could Be Better, But Still Worth The Visit – My hubby loves this place while I, on the other hand, just like it. For some reason, it's always packed, though, and they even have to refuse patrons sometimes, as they get too busy. The sushi is good, but not as good as some of my favorite sushi spots. It's reasonable, though, especially how it's priced. I'm not a big fan of the big sushi rolls, though coz that seems a bit too Americanized. The oyster shooters are good, as are the salmon roe. Cost is usually around $60-70 for 2 d... read more
Great Sushi Spot – Sakura is a great neighborhood sushi spot. The fish is extremely fresh and well prepared. They have a great variety of noodle dishes, entrees and tmpura as well as sushi. It is always packed with families in the early evening and adults later- the servers are busy and hustling tables. They dont take reservations so expect to wait; especially if you are a group larger than four.
Great Lunch Combo – A friend and I went last Tuesday for lunch, and we were seated promptly though it was surprisingly crowded. The lunch combo featuring tonkatsu (pork cutlet), tuna sashimi, salad with a delicious ginger(?) dressing, miso soup with seaweed and tofu. It was very filling, and I would go to Sakura again for lunch. While eating, we saw a bunch of people go into the the bakery across the street, Angel Maid, so after lunch I went there to try the mango mousse. So delicious.
Great food, sushi and otherwise – This is a great local joint for those wishing to elude the hipster crowds that frequent many sushi joints ALL OVER Los Angeles, and those who don't want to pay an arm and a leg for ambience. Sakura is all about the food and the hospitality. It's fairly priced (not cheap, but not expensive, either). Sakura is an unpretentious, neighborhood joint which I hesitate to even write about. A nice oasis in a desert of trendy, subpar sushi restaurants.
A Gem – If you're a true sushi lover then you'll enjoy the food here. There's not much to ambience but the albacore just melts in your mouth. I finally found a place that doesn't sear their albacore without it tasting fishy. And the pieces are good size too. Unfortunately, there is always a wait but worth it.
Always crowded – That means fresh sushi. You dont want to go to slow sushi restaurant.
Big Sushi... – The peices of fish that overlaps the sushi rice is insane. Cost is pretty average but you definitely get your moneys worth here. The fish is very fresh and you can't get too much better without really paying for it. The restaurant is very small and there is usually a long line outside. Usual wait time is 45 minutes+. The service is slow to clear tables so they can seat waiting customers and regulars usually can sneak ahead of you without you knowing. And there are a lot of regulars! Its also hard to find parki... read more
