A hidden jewel This is a wonderful restaurant. The sushi is excellent and the freshest of fresh. There's lot's of parking and you don't have to wait on a Friday or Saturday night because people don't know about this place. It's in the little shopping center, up the hill and kitty corner from Whole Foods My favorite sushi place, and I eat it ALL.
The best This is the best sushi place I know. I go to Sakana for almost 10 years, since Andy opened this restaurant and they are able for 10 years to keep the quality of sushi at the highest level. Highly recommend - the best sushi in Bay area
Had an order of the Cucumber Roll ($7): cucumber wrapped in pounded rice. Food was delicious, staff was laid-back, and an the ambiance was seemingly irreplaceable (as some Japanese prints were on display which are not so easily found in public spaces!).
Very fresh and high quality fish! – Drove up from Los Angeles over Memorial weekend and discovered our favorite sushi restaurant ever. And we know good sushi. We have been to many great sushi restaurants in L.A area and this place is just impressive! The fish is sooo fresh and the quaility of the sashimi is absolutely excellent. Would never ever dine here! – I would never dine here. This is definitely my worst take-out experience and I'm not the type of people who complains about everything in life. I ordered a Tori (chicken noodles). On the menu it gives you several choices of noodles but I wasn't asked what type of noodles I wanted but I had only realized that after I made the order. GREAT PLACE – I used to work there, and I am telling you, ITS EXCELLENT!!! The owner, Andy and his wife put so much effort in offering the best quality Japanese food and the Japanese chef is very detail-oriented and really knows how to prepare delicious food. All You Can Sushi! – Since moving to Walnut Creek in October, I have been on a hunt for the best sushi. I have found it at Sakana. Yes, its in a strip mall, but if you are tired of driving around downtown, looking for a parking place, then you will appreciate the ample parking. One the best sushi joints in the Bay Area – My taste in sushi developed while working at a high-end sushi bar in San Diego (unfortunately for my wallet), so when I moved up north, I looked for a really good place in the East Bay. I was really surprised to find a place in Contra Costa County that had high quality fish. I got to know the people there, so they are always kind to me, recommending what is best at the moment.
