Dry, dry birthday cake! My mom ordered a chocolate/chocolate mousse birthday cake for my birthday. Saffron came highly recommended but unfortunately my cake was a big disappointment. It was so very dry. It tasted as though it had been taken out of the freezer and de-thawed. The icing and presentation was ok, but the cake itself was gross. I could have made one cheaper and probably a lot better out of a dry mix from the grocery store. I would not recommend their cakes and will try another bakery next time I need a cake.
Best cakes and pastries in town. Saffron is definitely the most upscale bakery in the Charleston area. I have been to numerous weddings that had wedding cakes made by Saffron and they were absolutely exquisite, both in taste and decoration. Saffron is a very popular bakery, so if you are planning a wedding please plan in advance! It is much more expensive than other bakeries, but the quality and attention to detail is definitely greater than other bakeries. I would recommend their services for a very special event.
