Sat at the bar to try since it was close to my place downtown a while ago. Had an appetizer and mocktail to test the waters and see about bringing people for the full menu. Maybe they were swamped the day before because as I left, got a look from the owner I'm guessing from his demeanor like i could not spell the name Reve much less enjoy the experience. The food coming from the burger stand 10 feet away I guess is more my speed.
Not impressed. Had the ten course tasting for 4 people. Only enjoyed one dish. Quite disappointed for the cost of food and not loving it. Also took is almost 4 hours and we drive 2 hours to try this place.
As I sit here midway through my tasting I’m delighted to have something like this in downtown Birmingham. It’s an experience!
We did the 6 course with wine pairing, the hostess overheard we like sitting on the same side of the booth and had our table settings placed together when we were seated. Very sweet, the attention to detail was in everything. We asked for extra caviar service and Jacob himself brought a cart over to share and educate us about what he loved about his selection and I’m pretty impressed with the quality.
