Royal Pastry Shop was established in 1941 in East Cambridge, Massachusetts by Vincenzo and Ninetta Coppola. Vincenzo was born in Hamrun, Malta, but was of Sicilian descent. He emigrated to the United States in 1925 and worked in his uncle's pastry shop in Boston's North End until he opened Royal Pastry. Ninetta ( Urso ) Coppola was born in Floridia, Sicily and emigrated to Hartford, CT in 1920. All of their pastries, cookies and breads are the best. I didn't really appreciate them as a kid growing up in East Cambridge. They were there whenever we wanted anything. Now that I no longer have weekly visits to them, I have found out just how lucky we were to live so close to them.
Can not recommend enough. Reminds of of the local Italian bakery growing up as a kid. Prices are exceptional. I love dropping in on my lunch break to grab a cookie or some treats to bring back to the office. Everyone working there is always so friendly and nice.

We live in NH, and any trip down to Boston has to include a stop at Royal Pastry Shop. Can't leave without Biscotti, one or two pastries, and a slice of pizza for everyone. Great for the cakes as well!
Royal Bakery is the best pastry shop around you cannot beat it! Always happy with everything I have bought and everything is so delicious. People are always talking about Mike's & Modern Bakery in the North End but we have our jewel right here in Cambridge.
