I needed a drain pipe cleaned just to avoid future problems. It wasn't clogged, but it's a good idea to do it every couple of years to prevent a backup. The initial price was outrageous -- $400+. The technician helped me get the price down somewhat (still ridiculous) but he was a very nice young man who did a great job. I'd have scored Roto-Rooter much higher if the prices weren't so preposterous.
