Worst sevice in the city – the absolute worst service i have ever had, anywhere in the US, food was good (not great), but what difference does it make if you want to scream.

Bogie for SF – Not up to par for high quality SF Resturant. The ambiance is nice and the wait staff are friendly. Service was sufficient and friendly but food is prepared to move tables not sit and enjoy The food, furthermore, is noticably pumped out and served fast. Not bad, but not great either. So, if you live in a town where the Olive Garden is the best Italian you will enjoy. If from NY or SF or some other culinary city it is a no go. Careful of the ratings on City search. PR firms and owners are out in plenty.
the best – Atmosphere is wonderful- SF flare, metropolitan feel, plenty of space, not crowded. Excellent food- offering all types of food for all types of people. Cost is right on. Service- excellent. I have always been greeted and served by very service oriented individuals. Reservations- good idea, especially since they are very orginazed and keep track of your visits. This is important with so many great places to eat. They make you want to come back for more. Also excellent wine selections. I plan to be a regular
Terrible – I find the place very stuffy, rude, & unfriendly staff. Food was so so; I can make better Italian food and I'm Scot-Irish.
Used to be great, but no more – Ate here by recommendation of a North Beach local a few times 3-4 years ago and it was excellent. They used to serve a pasta with Ligurian sauce (shellfish) that was to die for (gone from the menu now). Lately, it seems to be resting on its old reputation. The last time (a year ago) it was mediocre, over-rated, & definitely overpriced. Rose Pistola is not the first restaurant in the world to suffer this fate. Highly Mediocre! – Not worth your time, or money. Average at best. I had the so-called "braised" mahi, and it was more like "mahi soup." Very small portions, very "foo foo" menu. Didn't really care for the place, and will never go back. The service was sporatic. The bar was okay. I can't see how anyone could say this is a great restaurant. The blonde hostess was cute and courteous though.
Stunning – I can't get enough of this place. I've been there more than 20 times, and everything is always fantastic. And the staff is the best I've seen in the city: friendly, accomodating, and well trained.
one of the best wine lists in sf – if you like true italian food, with balance and elegence (no sauces here) then this is the place for you. anyone who has ever been to liguria will understand the food perfectly. where else can you get wood oven roasted whole fish deboned tableside cooked to perfection? the food deserves all the attention it receives. but it is the wine list that amazes me the most. sick of california chardonnay? none by the glass here. this list is well thought out, cool, and reasonably priced. ask for reco... read more
