About this business

With a name like Rock'n Fish there is little left to be said about the atmosphere of this Manhattan Beach restaurant and bar. Since replacing the Manhattan Beach landmark, Hibachi restaurant in 2000, Rock'n Fish has striven to maintain the lively ambiance of its previous tenants, while supplying the freshest meats and seafood available. Some of the house specialties include the cakes, the top sirloin steak or the Atlantic Salmon. The restaurant also prides itself in maintaining a bar stocked with over 300 beers and wines, as... read more

Best Clam Chowder Ever! – Rock N Fish is very good. The Kapalua Rib Eye is to die for! The clam chowder is also the best I've had in the South Bay. Great food, and not too expensive.

Good seafood by the beach – I ate at this restaurant on a Sunday before any dinner rush, so we had no wait. The food and drink selection were excellent. The wood grilled fish and vegetables were awesome. The crab cakes were good, but not the best I've had. Same goes for the clam chowder. The spcial appetizer of the day was a blue cheese stuffed tomato, and might be one of the best things I've ever eaten in my life. Service was good. Location by the pier is cool. Parking wasn't easy. But overall, excellent dining experience.

Great Food and Hopin' Bar Scene – This restaurant has the best food ever! It is one block from the beach (I think you can even see the ocean from the patio) and has a fun, up beat atmosphere. The servers are great and the food does not receive enough publicity. The portions are large and the food is very fresh (especially the fish). If you have never been here, you should definitely try it! We love the Fish!

Had to order dessert before dinner – Despite having a 9 PM reservation on a Monday night, we had to wait about an hour to be seated. Then, when we're ready to order -- the waiter informed us that we'd have to order dessert (it was my friend's birthday), apps, and entrees all at the same time because the dining room was closing in a few minutes. The food was good. The oysters and scallops some of the freshest I've tasted, but the 'scene' wasn't worth it.

Favorite place in the South Bay!!! – This place is just downright awesome. However, this isn't a secret and it is packed most nights of the week. I recommend making a reservation and then still expect to wait a half hour to be seated. That's ok though since the bar has a happening scene and great prices on wine (by the glass or bottle). Also, the eye candy surrounding you (both guests and staff) helps the time go quick. The daily specials are amazing and simply compliment the large menu that offers food for anyone. Portions ... read more

I would never recommend this place to anyone – My company used to frequent this establishment for customer dinners, after-work, etc. However, we were there in a group of four on a Thursday, eating at one of the taller tables near the bar, ordering appetizers and numerous cocktails. We were asked by our server to vacate our seats, assuring us that the manager would "buy us a round" at the bar. Firstly, we were in one of the bar tables; secondly, we had not stopped ordering food; thirdly, the bar was standing room only. When w... read more

Great Place – Rock n' Fish is a new favorite. I've only been two times, because I'm from out-of-state, but everytime I visit, I want to come back. There is a long wait during dinner, but each time I've visited for lunch, we were seated right away. The food is great, and the service is alright. The first time I ate here we sat in the bar area, and the bartender forgot to put our order in. We had to wait awhile, but we got a free appetiser. The bread is excellent and the people are nice.

Rude! Rude! Rude! – This was one of the few restaurants in Manhattan Beach that we had not yet frequented, so we decided to give it a try on a Tuesday night. I wish I could comment on the food, but we didn't get that far. The wait staff was completely rude. We stood by the hostess table and got ignored by three servers and the host before leaving. There are plenty of good restaurants in Manhattan Beach with common courtesy. I would not recommend this one at all.

Standard surf and turf fodder for classy beachgoers. – In Short A wrought-iron gate entry invites couples to a romantic, candlelit patio. Inside, colorful depictions of menu items paint one wall, while a towering bar decorates a second. Upstairs dining and top-notch service mute noise from the bar. The surf-and-turf fare includes oak-grilled culotte sirloin served with a choice of sides. A blue cheese wedge is sprinkled with candied walnuts, bacon, dressing and a touch of garlic. Warm toffee pudding a la mode is among the de... read more
