The higher ups at UHS do not care about staff or patient safety, that is a fact. They sweep the continuing attacks of patients against nursing staff under the rug. They have no safety measures in place and do NOT provide aftercare for the massive number of staff that are brutalized by patients. They also withhold employee paychecks and refuse to acknowledge employees even worked for them as nurses (5+ year employee here). They must be - hypothetically - paying off a number of agencies because no way their safety violations w... read more

Would give it no stars if I could. They dobt care. Not the nurses, social workers ir dictors. Not everyone drinks or does drugs; some people are just really depressed and suffering from neurological illnesses, such as a tbi. But they dont care. Put me on namenda, which doesn't work because there is no plaque in my brain and then told me I was bi polar. The male doctor with a large frame and blond hair di d it even l8sten when I said I gad been diagnosed with major depression and ptsd fir over twenty years, he was mor... read more

Zero stars. We did not hear from the psychiatrist until 69 hours into my minor child's 72 hour M1 hold. In addition, they coerced her into extending the hold by telling her "you will get out sooner if you do this" (a boldface lie). We had to press hard just to get her released, and they ultimately did so without putting a home safety plan in place. Reportedly, staff yelled and cursed at children, and one child was told she couldn't take a nap in her room and ended up sleeping on a hardwood floor. There is much more. As... read more

Terrible experience. The staff, techs, nurses, and pharmacists are constantly on their phones. I got punched in eye by other patient, and I have permanent damage. He was still allowed out of his room after battering me. They don't care; they really don't.

If your child is in crisis you already have a lot on your plate, don't waste your time and energy with this facility. I had worked with their staff for over a week to set up my daughter's admission; however, at the last minute, after getting an insurance authorization, the CFO suddenly decided they could not take Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance. I spoke with the insurance company numerous times; they reached out to Midwest and spoke directly with Julie, the CFO, and the senior escalations advocate, who provided her with th... read more

I was treated very disrespectfully by some of the staff and the psychiatrist and doctor.  I did not feel safe with the patients I was made to stay with.

My personal experience at DBH was absolutely pleasant. Jamal, the patient advocate, is very attentive to comfort and hospitality. I have stayed at DBH numerous times for mental health coping skills.
