I don't think I could sit and eat here again knowing that someone would be publicly humiliated by being asked to take their food and go just because they were shelter residents. I pass through Petoskey on a regular basis for work and while average coffee and mediocre food might be enough of a draw for a quick bite in a pinch if they didn't have this issue, there are plenty of places we can stop instead that welcome everyone. We will do that from now on.
The disgusting practice of taking the money of people living in a shelter but not allowing them to have their coffee there is a new low. I bet you consider yourselves good, God-fearing people.
RecommendedI wouldnt recommends anybody who is homeless and staying at the neighmia male homeless shelter to go there since Ive heard they werent welcome when my friend was rudely asked to leave by saying "keep it moving" Apparently the homeless isnt welcome when that place is literally the ONLY place that is open when the shelter lets out at 6am during the winter. I'm disappointed. Other than that Roast & toast is my go to relaxing place when I'm down town.
we went in on a quiet almost empty Monday night. A girl took our order, then another and left. Another girl came and started taking orders from 2 more people. This wasn't one after another it was over 20 minutes. The second girl went and made a sandwich from the 4th person in line. Then proceed to make ours. Our sandwich that sat ignored by 2 workers. When we got it. it was soggy, missing cheese one one side...it was a grilled cheese...so yum. The pesto was splatted on taco bell style. Not grilled all the way and disgusting.... read more
