Decent for a Tex Mex place in Boulder – First of all, this is Tex Mex, not Mexican. This should be considered when reviewing the food. It will not be "authentic" and will be seasoned much differently! That being said, I've been here several times and have NEVER had anything that wasn't fresh and flavorful. I think the place gets a bad rap for not being authentic, but that aside - there are tasty foods to be enjoyed! I love the salsa and the blue corn tortillas. Although I'm a meat eater, they do a nice job with veggie fair h... read more

Amazing Margs, Average Food – This is a great place for non-foodies. If you want basic, good Mexican- this is a great choice. The menu is typical of what you would see at a Mexican restaurant but if you like really creative dishes, this may not be the best place for you. The drinks are amazing and it is a great place for families.

I Love this Place – I started out loving this place in the 90's when i went to CU and still love it today. I always have loved their margs and queso. They recently added a new marg that you can call your own tequila, which suits me as my palliate has evolved a tequila connoisseur. This place is still a fun place to hang out before I head to an Avs game. Thanks Rio

Very Disappointed – I was a Rio regular: I live in Denver, work downtown and bring friends and family here all of the time because of the good margaritas and food. However, I brought family from out of town for dinner on Saturday night and had the worst experience I have had at any Denver restaurant. We showed up a little after 7:15pm and put our names in. The hostess told us it would be 45 minutes to an hour. We decided to wait outside since it was so crowded in the restaurant and we thought it would be more polite to keep ... read more

Lots of hype – Not sure where to start since it's all so horrible. Service, food and even their famous drink is bad bad bad!! When I went with friends the doors were left open and a lot of flies had checked in for the season and were attacking all the of sticky tables and furniture. I know flies come in without an invitation... but if the staff and management actually cared and cleaned up it would probably not be a fly colony. When we tried to change tables our server was MIA. Food runners just dropped off the drinks and foo... read more

Terrible, Bland Food – TERRIBLE, bland food; I cant even eat it when Im drunk. The margaritas are good, however...but dont even bother with an appetizer at this joint.

blah! – The service was poor. If its not happy hour, the margs are 6.50 a peice. Although it was strong, it wasn't very big for the 6.50 charge! The chips and salsa were ok, but we only got a few big chips and then the rest were crumbs. Our water glasses remained empty. When we asked if we could special order something, the waitress acted like it was a huge hassle and didn't want to help. Its not easy having a special diet, and its not very comfortable when you are treated like a pain. We ordered the veggie fajitas. It consi... read more
